For CRH Serbia, the top priority is Occupational Health & Safety. This means that for Milan Ilic, Logistics Manager and therefore responsible for ensuring safety standards, tyre management is a key concern. “We perform daily pre-checks of vehicles. Before the drivers start their shift, they need to follow company protocol to conduct a visual inspection of tyres and rims. On top of that, Goodyear comes around twice a year to conduct their inspections, and we keep a strict record of tyre condition data at all times.”
This methodical approach to tyre-checking is essential. “It is expected from drivers to have a good knowledge of tyres”, explains Milan. “But the most important thing to me is to do all inspections on time and to maintain records.” However, this attention to detail takes time. In order to check the whole fleet of 13 vehicles, it typically takes a day for the measurements, followed by two further days to create the reports and recommendations. However, that was before Milan and Goodyear worked together to find a better way.
By using a combination of services and solutions provided by Goodyear Total Mobility, Milan has reduced the time taken to file reports by a massive 83%. “We believe in pre-emptive maintenance, so I need these reports. And I was delighted to find that a task that normally takes three days was completed in just four hours. We’ve worked with Goodyear since 2011 and this is a great example of the total value they bring us – not just great tyres, but also solutions that drive better results for our business.”
